What is the SOESoft Communications Framework (SSCF)?

The SSCF is a special piece of software that is designed to take data from any source and deliver that data to any target location. Whats is special about the SSCF is that it leverages the communications framework used by our enterprise management software by providing an independant data processing, delivery and display mechanism for Wide Area Networks (WAN's). What this means is that you can obtain data and deliver it to any specified location throughout your network using a highly efficient distributed architecture.

What data sources can I have?

Effectively you can have any data source on a network enabled piece of hardware such as:

1. SNMP Enabled Hardware
2. TCP/IP Enabled Hardware
3. File System Data, eg: text files
4. Databases of any type

Such hardware may fall into the category of:

1. Plant monitoring equipment
2. Data loggers
3. Server systems
4. Switches, routers, printers etc..
5. Special purpose hardware with data collection capabilities

What can I do with the data?

The SSCF software components can operate in the following manner:

1. Collect data from any source throughout your network and store centrally
2. Collect and format the data as required
3. Deliver the data or any parts of the data to a desktop "dashboard"
4. Peform actions based on data such as alerting (email, visual or audible alerts)
5. Store the data to any format such as database or file

What is the SSCF made up of?

The SSCF is made up of three purpose built pieces of software, these are:

1. Administration console: this provides a centralised interface to manage and configure your SSCF system.
2. System Service: this is data communications and processing heart of the SSCF system and provides all the functions to collect, store, process and deliver your data.
3. Desktop Client: this is the visual end of the software. It can be installed on any computer system and configured to display data and act visually or audibly on the data received.

What makes the SSCF special?

The SSCF provides a platform based on SOESoft's vast experience in network enabled applications. It provides a means to fast track custom software projects for any business by providing 90% of any network application. All we have to do customise the data collection and display to suit your specific requirements.

How do I get the SSCF?

The SSCF in itself is not a purchasable product in its own right. SOESoft must customise the software based on your specific data collection, processing and display requirements. The SSCF is in part a software development service offering as well as part product given that most of the hard work is already done by us. If you have a special requirement for a software development project then the SSCF will enable a cheaper, faster, efficient solution.

Is there an example of its application?

Yes there is! SOESoft have produced a custom purpose Energy Tracking system that was developed initially for the Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia (DAFWA). The SSCF was customised to obtain information from special hardware called data loggers. The data loggers are network enabled devices that measure power consumption (Kwh) at each of DAFWA's regional offices. The SSCF retrieves the data, processes, stores and delivers information to a desktop client. The purpose of this is to:

1. Raise the awareness of power consumption at each site to each employee via a near real-time graphical interface
2. Store the data from each site in a database thus allowing for management level reports on power consumption now and historically
3. Allow the measurement of power reduction projects and their effectiveness
4. Set KPI targets for power reduction
5. Improve OPEX (Operational Expenditure) accuracy
