What is RDMC LiveWire? Many corporate organisations are implementing desktop management applications to help them identify IT assets, manage them in operation and control the way they are used. They do this to reduce support costs and improve availability of service to end users. On the business side of the equation, this means fewer interruptions to critical business processes. Where these processes interact directly with external customers, it also means improved service to customers. There are a number of competitors in this market space, but few that can extend the management functionality outside the corporate network. SOESoft has developed its LiveWire product for just this purpose. Now, any user that is connected to the Internet can be managed. Information on where the user is, whether the computer’s SOE is compliant and applications updated with the latest patches can be gathered without access to the corporate network, and non-compliant issues repaired. Enterprise Management for the Internet The SOESoft SOE-in-a-Can is fully LiveWire enabled, making it the first commercially available self-updating corporate SOE. Through collaboration with Tier-1 computing vendors, we are able to provide updated device driver, BIOS, and vendor supported software support for a wide range of computing hardware as soon it becomes available. By integrating with SOESoft’s online package library, new applications can be purchased online, automatically downloaded to your server, and deployed across the environment. Application updates are handled by the LiveWire client, allowing service packs and updated versions to be automatically applied as soon as they become available. In the event that you require an application not currently available in the online package library, SOESoft’s expert staff can package and deploy the application upon request. Like all of the components in the RDMC Product Suite, LiveWire has been designed to minimise network usage wherever possible. In a corporate network environment, individual workstations do not need to connect directly to the internet. If you have an RDMC distribution point installed, it will automatically switch your client PCs into corporate mode, in which only the RDMC distribution point will connect to the internet to retrieve updates, ensuring that any required updates are downloaded once only. |
